Dave Dorman News: Announcing the WASTED LANDS Omnibus by Magnetic Press

Dear Friends,

First off, I need to be sure to mention that I, artists Douglas Klauba and Aaron B. Miller will all be speaking at HEVANSTON GALLERY in Evanston, IL at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22nd, EARTH DAY. Since we artists all work from home and save so much of the rest of the world’s carbon footprint, I think you should join us in celebrating that on Earth Day. Charlie Athanas, the gallery’s curator, will be hosting our lecture. That address is HEVANSTON GALLERY, 529 Davis Street, Evanston, IL 60201.

Now I want to share with you info on my creator-owned series, THE WASTED LANDS, which is now a new book, the WASTED LANDS Omnibus, published by Magnetic Press and publisher Mike Kennedy. It’s a huge honor to share this with all of you, and I think Mike Kennedy has done an amazing job. If you’ve noticed me rather silent lately on social media, it’s because I’ve been working so hard to meet this deadline–I’m still working hard on it–to get every comic book page recolored and relettered. I hope you all enjoy the end result:

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , on June 16, 2013 by DaveandDeniseDorman

Good Morning, Everyone and a Happy Father’s Day!

I’m grateful for my son every day, and he gives me reason to celebrate today. He is a miracle well worth the wait in my life.

Image

I also think of my father today, USAF Lt. Col. Jack Dorman, who was the best father I could have ever asked for – he supported me without hesitation when I pursued a rather unorthodox career – ART – and never doubted my ability to pursue my dreams. Thanks, Dad.

I am pleased to announce that thanks to many of you reading this, we’re up to 1,655 people on my Facebook Fan Page for The Wasted Lands, my creator-owned comic. Thank you for your interest in my ability to tell my own stories. If you haven’t already “Liked” my page, please do so. Unfortunately, my personal page is at the 5k limit, so feel free to connect with me on my fan page. I’m just as active on there.

People often ask what I buy at the comic book store on Wednesdays, so here’s my loot for this week – I am especially excited by A1 Issue 1 by my friend Dave Elliott, which has 3 variant covers, but I chose my favorite:

In other “Likes” for the week, if anyone watches Food Network, there’s a show called “Sandwich King” that is my new guilty pleasure. I even recorded today’s episode because everything he created was amazing – a Philly-style pork sandwich, a beer-battered cod fish dog, etc. Check it out if that’s your thing. You won’t be disappointed.

I want to say a special thank you to Amber and Bill who hosted us for the “Cut Your Own Steak” party yesterday, an annual event the day before Father’s Day. I try to make it as often as I can. They will be performing in my movie trailer for THE WASTED LANDS, and I will be sure to post that trailer here during San Diego Comic-Con this year.

I’m finishing up my variant Obama cover for IDW, and all I can say is, it will be unexpected, and unlike you’ve ever imagined him.

As always, thanks for reading.

Dave.

Dave Dorman’s Creator-Owned Epic Saga WASTED LANDS Reboots Now! Can YOU Survive THE WASTED LANDS?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , on June 12, 2013 by DaveandDeniseDorman

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to announce I am rebooting my creator-owned, dystopian action-adventure series, THE WASTED LANDS. I have 1,482 fans on my Facebook page, and I’d like to grow it to 10k, so please take a moment and “Like” my page and ask your friends & social networks to “Like” it as well. The link is https://www.facebook.com/davedormanwastedlands

Starting tomorrow, my friends at Sequential Ink will be posting FREE pages of the WASTED LANDS graphic novel called RAIL: BROKEN THINGS…A Tale of the Wasted Lands

until the whole story is posted online for your reading enjoyment. Here is a link to their announcement on offering RAIL to the fans:

My Booth #455 this July 17-21 at San Diego Comic-Con will be WASTED LANDS-centric, with some fun surprises that I can’t reveal just yet, but I am very happy with the direction everything is taking. To summarize, my epic saga begins in a parallel universe like our world, but not exactly. They innovated a steam engine and the resulting mass production, so some technologies occurred earlier in their timeline. In the aftermath of the IRON WARS, the impossibly powerful, insatiably greedy Rail Barons are controlling–and ruining–everything. Pollution is out of control, terrifying creatures form in the toxins of their reservoirs, drug abuse in the form of “The Quick” is rampant, and the good people of MORTAL CITY and its outlying rural environs, THE WASTED LANDS, are collectively listless, with no real future to look forward to. But there is hope. A small but brave band of rebels who begin to discover that together, their unique collaboration has the power to turn things around.

Since 20,000 of you out there have already read RAIL: BROKEN THINGS when I first released it, I am hopeful at least half of you will care enough about the continuation of the series to help me reach my goal of 10k “Likes.”

I thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy my storytelling in THE WASTED LANDS.

Dave
